Our dear friend Ed has bought a small Rolleiflex camera recently… It is so small and cute looks like a toy. I in love with it intantly…

Minox Limited Edition Rolleiflex MiniDigi in Italian Red – digital camera and photography newsMinox admits color with the red Rolleiflex MiniDigi!

As exclusive design and technique highlight miniature camera specialist Minox presents its fully functional replica of the famous Rolleiflex in “Italian Red”. This extraordinary pocket digital camera is only available as a limited special edition of only 500 pieces and will exclusively be sold in Germany through the Lufthansa World Shop.

This new digital Mini Rolleiflex brings back memories of the well-known Classic Camera Collection. It has the same shape and design as the famous 6×6 twin lens reflex camera, and offers a resolution of up to 3.1 million (interpolated) pixels. Many details of the large model were taken over accurately and at actual scale.

Taking photos with this camera is like the real thing in miniature but in digital. Just like the original with its 6x6cm square format this MiniDigi takes square format digital photos. Viewing is from above camera – as with the original – through the foldable viewfinder where the image is displayed on a 0.9 inch LCD monitor. To prepare the camera for the next shot, the normal metal transportation crank on the right side of the body is turned until a clicking sound confirms that the MiniDigi is ready for the next shot.

Though we are travelling, it is hard to cut ourselves off from the virtual world. Especially we need constant Internet access to update our blog. Furthermore, we also don’t like the idea of carrying expansive stuff and invite robbery.

This page displays a list of our mini gadgets I use while we are travelling.

O2 mini

A pocket PC that I bought 2 years ago in preparation for this trip. It has a Singapore phone number where people can still call me, a pocket calender to briefly record down our trip and a pocket notepad for writting articles for our blog; We use pocket excel for recording our day by day expenses and of course the build-in calculator for calculating convertion rate etc. Furthermore, it also serves as our morning alarm clock. It also displays time zones of many countries.

O2 mini comes with an external 512Mb SD card for me to backup and restored data, as well as transfer data between Os mini and any computer. Sometime, but very seldom, I use it as a MP3 player.

It proves to be handy and extremely helpful.

ipod – 30Gb

Music entertainment for long overnight bus or train rides. Alex installs a whole verbal chinese language course (3 CDs of 21 lessons each CD and half an hour per lesson) in it. If she manages to complete the whole course, she will have little language barrier while travelling in China.

However, we find ipod is not that user friendly, especially uploading or downloading songs or data between ipod and computer. Perhaps an MP3 player is better…

A digital camera…

For capturing the nooks and crannies on our route…

A video camera…

For capturing motion pictures on our route… as well as working on some special projects… normally I capture video footage in MiniDV.

Extra Storage space for digital photos and documents

SD cards (1Gb, 512Mb), Thumb drives (128Mb, 512Mb), Sony Memory Stick Pro (1Gb), Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo (1Gb, 512Mb) and CDs.

Some software in thumb drive:

Photo editing software – Irfan ViewIrfanView is a very fast, small, compact and innovative FREEWARE (for non-commercial use) graphic viewer for Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista. I use it for editing our photos before upload them onto our blog. It doesn’t require you to install in any computer. http://www.irfanview.com/

Protable firefox

Mozilla Firefox is a fast, full-featured web browser that’s easy to use, and can be stored in a thumb drive. It has lots of great features including popup-blocking, tabbed-browsing, integrated search, improved privacy features, automatic updating and more. I use it mainly for ibanking, bookmark important websites etc. http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable
