This seems to be the first public holiday in the new year – Festival of Pongal, on 15 January. In Mysore, we saw local was busy washing their beloved cow and painted them with mainly yellow and red, as well as decorated them handsomely…

“The cow is so nicely decorated but the owner just left them eating rubbish by the road…” Alex commented with a sigh…

It is suppose to be a holiday and no yoga class but our teacher Mdm Laksmi is worried our short stay in Mysore is insufficient to learn, so she volunteeringly giving us an extra lesson. After class, we are invited to her house, where we are fed with her delicious home made Pongal. Some locals dropped by showing respect to Mdm Laksmi, they presented a plate with one banana, one sugar cane as well as a small bag of nuts and sweets mixed. In return, Mdm Laksmi also presented a plate of one banana, one sugar cane as well as a small bag of nuts and sweets mixed to her visitors. In addition, she gives a red dot on her visitors’ forehead…

On our way home, we pump into Mdm Jyoti and she invited us to her house too…

We are delighted by this day full of invitation…
