Near Anuradhapura is the small village Mihintale. Here we found the place where the Sri Lanka Buddhism is originated.

In 247 BC the King Devanampiya Tissa met the monk Mahinda. This man, now a monk was the son of the great Indian Buddhist emperor Ashoka. Her are 2 powerful man facing each other and one will bring a new ideology to the other.

The Ambasthale Dagoda is built over the meeting point. Here is were the local Buddhism was born. Praying and offerings around that place are little. It is a very quiet and peaceful place up there on the hill.
