20USD for one site or 40USD for the ‘Cultural Triangle’! We really don’t want to spend so much money. Sri Lanka is already to expensive for us that we decide not to buy the tickets. Now we are here and we will try to find some ways of sightseeing without paying.

Anuradhapura first became a capital in 380 BC and reached great importance in welcoming and spreading the Buddhism in Sri Lanka. One of the witnesses of this long history is the Sri Maha Bodhi, the sacred bodhi tree. It is the oldest historically authenticated tree in the world, for it has been tended by an uninterrupted succession of guardians for over 2000 years.

High above the ground on a platform is the sacred brunch. Hundreds of Pilgrims gathering around, praying and offering. Its a quiet and peaceful place with its green leaf roof.
